Most of us are feeling the strain of rising costs, but that doesn't mean you have to break the bank to have fun. October 1st is Frugal Fun Day in the US! Here are ideas that you can do at home or in the community either for free or very affordably. We'd also love to hear your low cost entertainment plans!

Coloring is good for the soul no matter your age! Here are free coloring pages that both adults and kids will love.

movie night

Make an autumn movie bucket list, get the popcorn ready, and get snuggled up with a comfy blanket!

go to the library

As Twitter user Amanda_Killian pointed out, libraries are "one of the few public spaces left in our society where you're allowed to exist without the expectation of spending money." There are fantastic public libraries in our area. If you're bringing kiddos, check out our favorite libraries with children's areas here.

visit a park

Our local Metroparks are top-notch! We also love Fossil Park in Sylvania where admission is free and you get the chance to find more than 200 species of prehistoric life. Toledo Botanical Garden, Maumee Bay State Park, and the 577 Foundation offer free outdoor fun. Take a look at some of the other parks we like best in the Toledo area and in Wooster.

bike & walking trails

Ohio and Michigan have tons of trails for biking, walking, and more! Take a look at our top picks in NW Ohio and SE Michigan here. If you're in the Wooster area, you can browse the best trails here.

museums

Admission to the Toledo Museum of Art is free and parking for non-members is $10. The Toledo Firefighters Museum is free. Hancock Historical Museum is extremely reasonable even if you're not a member. The cost for adults is $5, seniors $3, and children $2.
